Rolling into Spring Shimmery & Shiny

IMG_9480

I am officially OBSESSED with Stila’s new liquid eye shadows!  Whether it is the ‘Glow’ set, the ‘Shimmer’ set or the ‘Glitter’ set – I LOVE IT.  I haven’t been able to stop playing with it.  I have been using it on all my girls and it looks absolutely wonderful on each and every one of them! Seriously, if you haven’t tested this product out yet… GO GET SOME!  I promise you won’t regret it. The colors are so rich and pigmented with glitter, and shine, whichever way you turn you’ll shimmer in all the right ways.

These new shadows are a MUST HAVE for Spring and Summer.  What better way to get that summer glow??  The best part is – it’s build-able! You can wear a light layer during the day and then add a thicker layer before heading out for the night with your girls, or maybe dinner with your man!

I was hesitant to try this product at first because liquid shadows make me nervous.  Some brands can be chunky upon application and feel wet on your eyelids.  It would end up leaving my eyelids and the shadow creased after an hour.  These products, however, do not feel like that AT ALL.  They’re super light and they dry very quickly.  Take a look at some of the girls I did using them:

Cydney (left) I topped her look off with ‘Gypsy’… She totally rocked this purple glitter shimmer! Her eyes looked amazing and this color went so well with the eye shadow palette I used.

Gillian (right) I used ‘Carefree’ on her in the inner corners.  The pink shimmer gave her eyes a nice pop.  It was date night for her and her hubby and this look nailed it for her!

Me (below), I wanted to give you guys a look of how you can rock this shadow on a daily basis with a more natural look- whether at the office, running errands, or just hanging around. I used Enchantress.

Needless to say, I’m obsessed.  I bought a handful of colors and I can’t wait to try more.  If you haven’t tried this product yet GO OUT AND GET IT.  Tell them I sent you! Below are the colors I have in my collection – drop a note and tell me your favorite Stila Liquid Eye Shadow color…maybe it will be my next purchase!

Long Live Long Lasting LipSense! (My Story)

After seeing post after post about LipSense Lipstick and how it can last anywhere from 4 to 18 hours, I decided to give it a whirl.  The slogan for it states it is ‘waterproof, kiss proof, and smudge proof’.  It is also vegan, GMO free, wax free, gluten free, led free and made in the USA!  Can’t go wrong with trying that, right?  Nope, LETS DO IT!

FullSizeRender

I picked two colors – ‘Luv it’ and ‘She’s Apples’.  The cost was pretty reasonable, similar to the lipsticks you find stepping into a Sephora…The price breakdown is $25 for the color, $20 for the gloss, and $10 for the remover (yes, you need remover as this stuff doesn’t budge).

The first time I tried it I was a little overwhelmed with the application instructions.  I mean, it’s lipstick – it shouldn’t be that complicated, right?  WRONG! Well, apparently there’s a method to the madness…the colors are a patented molecular bond, meaning it actually sticks to your skin!  That’s the reason the first instruction is to clean and dry your lips before applying the color, this is so it really sticks on to your lips.  Step 2 was to shake the bottle well then apply 3 thin layers, in a one-swipe motion, starting at your cupids bow and working your way down each side – then moving onto your bottom lip with one swipe all the way across. Let the color dry 5 seconds and then repeat 3 times.  There was a bit of a tingly feeling that I noticed upon application…once I did some research, I found out that tingle was the SD40 alcohol that keeps the product bacteria-free (pretty cool!).  The tingly feeling immediately went away once I applied the glossy gloss.  Glossy gloss is step 3 to the process.  No special instructions other than to apply once the color is dry.  Once you apply your gloss you are LipSense ready for the day!

(FYI – the process becomes quick and easy once you get used to applying it regularly)

I took a photo of me throughout the day to show you how my ‘She’s Apples’ LipSense held up.  I actually left the color tube at home for the day and only brought the gloss with me because I like moisture on my lips.

Selfie Shes Apples

The photo of me on the left was before I went to work at 8am, the second (middle) photo is of me at 5pm after leaving work, and not to mention eating all day – pretty nice, right?  The third photo on the left is AFTER sweating my bum off at a cardio kickboxing class around 730pm.  Still on there looking bright and in place!  Now, I did notice that towards the end of the day, after my kickboxing class my waterline was where the color started breaking down. All in all though, the product did what it told me it was going to do – it lasted a solid 9 hours and then started breaking down…it didn’t come completely off by any means.  I actually had to use the Oops Remover to get it off before going to bed.

All in all – I was so impressed with my trial that I purchased a bunch more colors!  My obsession continued so I became a distributor and threw out all my old lipsticks. No more reapplying after every meal.  Bye bye old lipstick…HELLOOO LIPSENSE!

Palettes on Palettes

I love buying and testing out new eyeshadows. There’s always the staple shadows I love but after I while I get bored and need to try something new! That’s why I love buying palettes; they offer so many options so you don’t get use to just one shadow and tire of it!

Some of my favorite palettes are Naked 2 by Urban Decay, Full Exposure by Smashbox, In The Know Palette by Stila (discontinued), & Boudoir Eyes by Too Faced.

Half & Half!

A little makeup can make your eyes brighter and and give your face more definition! The right side of my face I put on foundation, bronzer, and a little bit of blush. My right eye has a nude eyeshadow and a light line of eyeliner on my top lid and on my waterline, topped off with some mascara! And lastly, I have lip liner and lipstick on the right side of my mouth.

Bride to Be!

One of my best friends is getting married in almost exactly one month and we did her makeup trial over the weekend! She told us how she wanted something light with a hint of pink on her eyes, with a black semi-thick liner. We smoothed over her face, added some bronzer and blush, & finished her face off with a light pink lipstick!

Can’t wait to see her in her dress on the big day!

How Much is too Much?

Sometimes people wonder how much concealer they should be using, or how much foundation is too much foundation. Well, this all varies person to person depending on skin type. But regardless, you never want to use too much concealer because it can crease throughout the day, and you don’t want to pack on the foundation and have it look like you have no pores.

Below is a snapshot of how much face product I typically use. My moisturizer is Belif Aqua Bomb and requires a very little amount to hydrate. My face primer is Smashbox’s Iconic Photo Finish Foundation Primer which also requires a very small amount – you don’t want your face too feel wet! For my Foundation and Concealer I use Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation and the HD Concealer by Make Up Forever.

Primer and Foundation usually require the most product because they cover the entire face with equal coverage everywhere. Unlike concealer which is only for small areas and primer which does not require full coverage!

Cream Eye Shadow

I love finding new brands to test and try out – it’s usually when I find a new favorite product! A friend of mine suggested Younique Splurge Cream Shadow and I figured why not try it out. I got the black and gold glitter shadows and they are amazing! They are so vibrant and pigmented, especially the gold one called Bronze.

You only need a to put a small amount on your brush and it goes a long way! I use a flat brush so it’s easy to control and spread the creamy shadow. It’s so easy to move and blend, I love the way it comes out!
