Rolling into Spring Shimmery & Shiny

IMG_9480

I am officially OBSESSED with Stila’s new liquid eye shadows!  Whether it is the ‘Glow’ set, the ‘Shimmer’ set or the ‘Glitter’ set – I LOVE IT.  I haven’t been able to stop playing with it.  I have been using it on all my girls and it looks absolutely wonderful on each and every one of them! Seriously, if you haven’t tested this product out yet… GO GET SOME!  I promise you won’t regret it. The colors are so rich and pigmented with glitter, and shine, whichever way you turn you’ll shimmer in all the right ways.

These new shadows are a MUST HAVE for Spring and Summer.  What better way to get that summer glow??  The best part is – it’s build-able! You can wear a light layer during the day and then add a thicker layer before heading out for the night with your girls, or maybe dinner with your man!

I was hesitant to try this product at first because liquid shadows make me nervous.  Some brands can be chunky upon application and feel wet on your eyelids.  It would end up leaving my eyelids and the shadow creased after an hour.  These products, however, do not feel like that AT ALL.  They’re super light and they dry very quickly.  Take a look at some of the girls I did using them:

Cydney (left) I topped her look off with ‘Gypsy’… She totally rocked this purple glitter shimmer! Her eyes looked amazing and this color went so well with the eye shadow palette I used.

Gillian (right) I used ‘Carefree’ on her in the inner corners.  The pink shimmer gave her eyes a nice pop.  It was date night for her and her hubby and this look nailed it for her!

Me (below), I wanted to give you guys a look of how you can rock this shadow on a daily basis with a more natural look- whether at the office, running errands, or just hanging around. I used Enchantress.

Needless to say, I’m obsessed.  I bought a handful of colors and I can’t wait to try more.  If you haven’t tried this product yet GO OUT AND GET IT.  Tell them I sent you! Below are the colors I have in my collection – drop a note and tell me your favorite Stila Liquid Eye Shadow color…maybe it will be my next purchase!

Bride to Be!

One of my best friends is getting married in almost exactly one month and we did her makeup trial over the weekend! She told us how she wanted something light with a hint of pink on her eyes, with a black semi-thick liner. We smoothed over her face, added some bronzer and blush, & finished her face off with a light pink lipstick!

Can’t wait to see her in her dress on the big day!

How Much is too Much?

Sometimes people wonder how much concealer they should be using, or how much foundation is too much foundation. Well, this all varies person to person depending on skin type. But regardless, you never want to use too much concealer because it can crease throughout the day, and you don’t want to pack on the foundation and have it look like you have no pores.

Below is a snapshot of how much face product I typically use. My moisturizer is Belif Aqua Bomb and requires a very little amount to hydrate. My face primer is Smashbox’s Iconic Photo Finish Foundation Primer which also requires a very small amount – you don’t want your face too feel wet! For my Foundation and Concealer I use Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation and the HD Concealer by Make Up Forever.

Primer and Foundation usually require the most product because they cover the entire face with equal coverage everywhere. Unlike concealer which is only for small areas and primer which does not require full coverage!

Smoky Eyes and a Bold Lip!

One of my favorite looks is a matte smoky eye and a deep red lip. Pairing this with an AMAZING black and nude dress and a killer smile just makes it absolutely perfect!

On this lovely lady I used Smashbox’s Full Exposure Palette, Too Faced’s Boudoir Eyes Soft & Sexy Eye Shadow Palette, Smashbox Black Jet Set Waterproof Liner and Ardell Lashes. And on her lips is Maybelline’s Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lip Color (Divine Wine).

How gorgeous does she look!?

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!

screen-shot-2017-01-24-at-1-26-22-pmIf you haven’t tried the True Cream Aqua Bomb by belif, I highly suggest you do so ASAP! This gel/cream is by far my favorite skin product. It’s super light weight and doesn’t have a thick or creamy texture like most face moisturizers. It’s more of a gel-based cream that refreshes and hydrates your skin while providing a cooling sensation. It’s the perfect morning face moisturizer to use after you wash your face, because that cooling sensation helps wake you up and feel rejuvenated for the day!

It also works great for minimizing pores and improving skin elasticity. And don’t worry, the True Cream Aqua Bomb works for any type of skin whether you have oily, dry, or combination skin. Don’t take our word for it, try it out!

Going Nude

The great thing about a nude lip is that it works for every occasion and every outfit. It adds the final touch of completion by defining the lips in an effortless way. And let’s be honest, the best makeup is the kind that enhances your existing features by just making them a bit more pronounced and eye-catching.

Below are some of our favorite Nude Lipsticks on some of our favorite clients!

Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencil – Honey Berry

This product is my all time favorite nude lipstick. It’s a long-lasting matte lipstick, but it doesn’t feel like every other matte lipstick out there. It still has moisture to it so you don’t feel like your lips are drying up and cracking. This is because Bite Beauty uses a hydrating formula that is infused with all natural food-grade ingredients, which means you can literally eat this stuff it’s so good!

MAC Viva Glam Lipstick

MAC’s Viva Glam is an oldie but goodie. It has a lustre finish giving you that simple sheen of lipstick while maintaining a natural look. Who doesn’t love a staple MAC product to carry in their purse at all times?

Kylie screen-shot-2017-01-24-at-12-23-50-pmCosmetics Dolce K Lip Kit

Kylie Cosmetic Lip Kits can be a hit or miss for some people as the formula used can dry out the lips. A tip for this issue it putting on a light layer of chapstick about 5 minutes prior to putting on the liquid lipstick. This maintains the moisture in your lips while capitalizing on the high-pigmented lipstick. Not to mention that these liquid lipsticks stay on your lips forever! You’ll rarely even need to touch up.

My favorite color is Dolce K, especially for those with a darker complexion!

Make Your Eyes Pop!

Sometimes you see people and they’re eyes stand out more than usual. It could be because of the colors they’re wearing, the way they’re makeup is done, or the surrounding environment. Whatever the cause, it most likely has to do with specific colors influencing their eyes.

Specific colors make other colors more pronounced. These color pairings are known as “complimentary colors”. For example, red is the complementary color of green, and orange is the complementary color of blue. This is why you see a lot of redheaded bombshells wear a lot of beautiful green dresses – the dress compliments they’re amazing hair color.

The color theory also applies to eye color. A way to make your eyes pop is to paint your lid with your eye’s complimentary color. For blue eyes, that means using a lot browns that incorporate orange undertones.

On Erin, I used a light brown on the inner lid and a darker brown on the crease in outer lid. Both browns had orange undertones that contrast well with her blue eyes and really make them pop!

If you have green eyes, using browns with red undertones will help bring out your natural color, just like if you have brown eyes using violet and bluish tones will help accomplish the same look!
